V. Berlandieri(겨울포도, 冬葡萄)

 

Spanish, Winter, Sweet mountain 포도로도 불리는 이 종은 미국의 남쪽 텍사스주와 멕시코 북부지역에 분포하는 포도로 자웅이주이다. 이름의 유래는 처음으로 이 품종을 수집한 스위스의 식물학자인 Berlandier의 이름을 딴 것이다. 잎은 심장형이며, 약한 3 편엽이다. 잎 뒷면의 엽맥에 직립성 및 포복성 털이 드물게 있으며 거치의 골은 아주 얕다. 가지는 약하여 쉽게 부러지는 것이 특징이며, 약간의 직립성 털이 있기도 한다. 과방의 크기는 중 또는 대이며 어깨송이가 달린 원추형이다. 과립은 작은 원형이며 검은색에 약간의 분홍색 빛이 감돈다. 맛은 시며, 과즙이 많다. 종자의 크기는 중정도 이다. 수세는 강하며 신초 발아기, 개화기 및 성숙기가 V. riparia 보다 한달 정도씩 늦다. 그러나 접수 품종을 조숙 풍산시키는 경향이 있다. Phylloxera 저항성은 좋으나 잎에는 아주 드물게 암종이 형성되기도 한다. 석회질 토양 적응성이 아주 강하고 내습성도 강하다. 내한성이 약하고 뿌리 발근력이 좋지 않다.

Vitis berlandieri is a species from the limestone hills of central Texas. It was imported to France in the late 1800s for use in rootstock breeding because of its excellent lime tolerance. It has never been directly used as a rootstock because it roots and grafts poorly, but it has been crossed with V. riparia, V. rupestris and V. vinifera to produce rootstocks with phylloxera resistance and lime tolerance. Berlandieri has moderate phylloxera resistance, and variable resistance/susceptibility to root-knot and dagger nematodes. This species is now considered to be a subspecies of V. cinerea. Berlandieri's leaf shape and size is similar to that of riparia, except for its much smaller teeth, and the dense tomentum on its shoot tips.
